Schaeffler India empowers differently – abled young women in Vadodara through vocational training under HOPE
Vadodara: Schaeffler India Limited (Formerly FAG Bearings India Ltd)today announced the conclusion of first batch of 23 under-privileged, disabled and hearing-impaired women through its empowerment project NITARA, under the umbrella of HOPE. Under the CSR program “HOPE”, Schaeffler India has opened the door of opportunity for the differently-enabled (hearing and speech impaired) girls to provide training in beauty & wellness services. The program is being run with the help of LabourNet, a social enterprise that enables sustainable livelihood for men, women and youth in urban and rural areas.
One of the key philosophy of HOPE is aimed at providing Skill for Employability and creating a more employable Indian workforce. NITARA empowers the women with the art of professional make-up and hairdressing training through sign language, providing them with sustainable livelihood opportunities. The entire batch has found employment at professional salons in Vadodara. The program focuses on improving earning potential of women through skill building, facilitating self-employment and job placements. NITARA was conceptualized in July 2016 by Schaeffler India with an objective to establish demonstrative models for enhanced livelihood opportunities for the differently-abled, thus making them independent.

With the help of its implementation partner LabourNet, Nitara provides theatrical training along with on-job training through a 6-months diploma course, including a 3-month NSDC certification as beauty therapist and hair stylist.
