Oxygen Supported Beds doubled, Surplus O2 to cater other Health Units: DC Kathua

 

Kathua : Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav today said that the Health infrastructure of GMC Kathua and allied health units has been strengthened in shortest possible times to deal with sudden Covid-19 upsurge.

Interacting the media persons, the DC informed that the strength of Oxygen Supported Beds in GMC Kathua has been doubled with recently Commissioned 2250 LPM capacity Oxygen Generation Plant.

He said currently district Kathua has 250 Oxygen Supported Beds, which include 160 beds in GMC and 90 beds in CHC Parole, CHC Hirangar, CHC Basohli and CHC Billawar. He said presently only 116 beds have been occupied and rest are available to accommodate patients in need of Oxygen Support.

Regarding arrangements for managing Covid Positive Patients, the DC said the district has established Covid Care Centres having Bed Strength of 820 of which 116 are occupied so far.

He informed thar as many as 25 Oxygen Concentrators are being provided by Government of India which will reach Kathua by next week. He said these Oxygen Concentrators will be used in CHC’s to strengthen the capacity of Oxygen Supported Beds.

While presenting current Covid positive data, the DC said that a total of 3440 Covid positive cases were reported in last one month, of which 1876 have recovered and 1529 are still active. He also said the Kathua district has reported 35 deaths in the last one month.

He said the proposal of increasing ICU capacity in GMC Kathua has already been taken up with the government and it has assured early action in this regard. He added that work of installing new CT scan machine is in full swing and it would be operational in the next few weeks.

Regarding the distribution of Covid Management Kits, the DC informed that the District has received 600 kits which are being distributed among the Covid positive patients.

While giving details of Covid Vaccination scenario in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said 66.89% people under 45+ category have been administered first jab with over 29000 taken second dose. He said new vaccination sites have been opened besides ward to ward vaccination drives are being organised to speed up the momentum.

Regarding Door to Door Mopping cum Awareness drives, the DC said screening of probable positives are being traced and testing camps were being organised in areas with high concentration of symptomatic patients. He said the people are being motivated to get vaccinated in nearest Vaccination centres.

It was further informed that for strict enforcement of Covid SOPs, a fine to the tune of Rs 4 lakh has been collected from the violators by enforcement teams in the district during lockdown. He said FIR and sealing of few commercial establishments are also done to enforce corona Curfew.

The DC informed that PRIs are being taken on board to motivate and mobilize people to get vaccinated. He said virtual meetings with BDC’s and DDC’s are being convened to spread awareness among masses besides suggestions are being considered for opening of new vaccination sites in villages.
