Cameroon youth speak against violent extremism through pictures and graphics and win prizes for that

Selected from among 64 contestants, 07 youths are being recognized for their outstanding artwork that portrays violence and hate as a barrier to peacebuilding in Cameroon. Young people through this contest were engaged in a dialogue and creative process to create awareness in other young people on the consequences of the evils of violence and hate speech as well as advocate for the plight of youths in Cameroon.
Meet the laureates and see their award-winning creative photography and graphics on the theme “the consequence of violent extremism and hate on youth in Cameroon”.
They were crown during a price-giving ceremony co-presided by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, MOUNOUNA FOUTSOU together with his counterparts from the Ministry of Secondary Education, Ministry of Basic Education, and Ministry of Culture, at the Yaoundé Hilton Hotel on 18 May 2021.
This awareness raising campaign is happening under the banner of a project implemented in Cameroon in the context of ongoing social unrest in the North West and South West regions of the country. The UNESCO led project also addresses growing terrorism threats in the Extreme North of Cameroon.

Thanks to funding from the United Nations Peace Building Fund, UNESCO and Ministry of Youth and Civic Education are engaging youths, stakeholders, and other government partners to integrate activities on peacebuilding in education and socioeconomic development of the people to create an enabling environment for the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, UN 2030 Agenda.
