Ural Federal University: New Stage Towards Humanitarian Collaboration – Ambassador of Uzbekistan Visited UrFU
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirzhon Asadov visited the Ural Federal University on May 21. The delegation of the republic met with representatives of the university and students.
“The number of students entering Russian universities is growing from year to year. Today, according to the Russian side, in general, about 35 thousand of our students study in Russian universities, including branches in Uzbekistan. If only in Russia – it is 28-29 thousand. Our students mainly study in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Novosibirsk, Tomsk. About a thousand of our students are in the Sverdlovsk region, says Botirzhon Asadov. “I am sure that your university, which has federal status, can provide the necessary conditions for our youth to receive a decent education.”
According to the first vice-rector of UrFU Dmitry Bugrov, the university is open to students from Uzbekistan. And in two years it will be able to provide high-quality living conditions.
“We are glad to welcome you at UrFU. The university is interested in working with the real sector. We want to be useful to our southern neighbor, partner and friend in terms of training for him. Perhaps the implementation of research, applied work, – explains Dmitry Bugrov. – We really want to devote the next two years to establishing mutually beneficial relations with potential partners from Uzbekistan, because in two years we will be ready to provide your students with not only high-quality education, but also very high-quality accommodation. We will have state-of-the-art student accommodation and accommodation and will be extremely competitive.”
With the students of UrFU – citizens of Uzbekistan and students of the Department of International Relations – the delegation held a round table “Bilateral relations of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan”. Mr. Ambassador spoke about the existing cooperation and potential.
“The last four years have become a new stage of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. This relationship is developing exponentially from year to year. If until 2016 there were branches of three Russian universities in Uzbekistan, then today there are already 12. These are flagships in their direction. We do not stop, we continue to work with universities in order to either create branches or launch joint faculties on the system of double diplomas, – explained Botirjon Asadov. “There is a huge need for thinking cadres who understand the current conjuncture – the economy, the humanitarian sphere, security issues, politics.”
