Siberian Federal University: SibFU delegation visits Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan
Representatives of the educational and international blocks of Siberian Federal University ventured a large-scale tour to the CIS countries from May 17 to May 27, 2021. During their visits to Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, the delegation managed to solve many career guidance, educational and political issues and sign 5 international cooperation agreements.
The delegation took part in the 9th Russian Education. Tajikistan 2021 International Exhibition and Fair which was organized by Rosotrudnichestvo in Dushanbe and brought together 26 Russian educational institutions. The SibFU team held dozens of presentations on the educational opportunities of the university. More than 300 potential applicants provided their contacts. The team also held meetings directly in schools.
During the visit to Tajikistan, several significant meetings were held, including with Minister of Education and Science Muhammadyusouf Imomzoda, the office of the Tajik Embassy in Russia, acting head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Tajikistan Ivan Ivanov, president of the Academy of Sciences Farkhod Rakhimov, rector of the Russian-Tajik Slavonic University Khojazod Tokhir Abdoullo.
Among other things, the parties reached an agreement on joint participation in summer schools. The Tajik side expressed its readiness to accept our students free of charge to participate in schools in botany and archaeology. In addition, the leadership positions of SibFU in the project to create a Russian club at the Slavic University were outlined. Representatives of the Academy of Sciences also expressed interest in the project of the first climatic REC, which is being created on the basis of SibFU as carbon footprint issues are also of concern to the scientific community of Tajikistan, which is performing relevant research too.
The second country visited by the SibFU delegation was Kyrgyzstan. According to vice-rector for Academic Affairs Denis Guts, the visit to Bishkek included a number of important meetings with the education authorities and management of educational institutions of the country. One of those was a meeting with Bolotbek Koupeshev, Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan.
“In addition to the fact that we discussed a number of key issues with the minister, this meeting opened the doors of some Kyrgyz universities, including the National University, the Kyrgyz State University of Geology, Mining and Natural Resources Development and the Kyrgyz Aviation University, where we discussed issues of scientific and educational networking.”
According to head of the Department for International Cooperation Anna Mezit, the meetings with the executives of the regional education authorities were productive.
“We discussed the renewal of the memorandum, which will simplify the recruitment of Kyrgyz applicants. This is a serious advance in the light of such a criterion for the effectiveness of universities as the number of foreign students. In addition, we visited two partner schools, one of which has been under the patronage of SibFU since 2009. With our support, schoolchildren can improve their knowledge of chemistry and the Russian language.”
