Plantation Drive organized at IIT Bhubaneswar on the occasion of World Environment Day
Bhubaneswar: IIT Bhubaneswar on the occasion of “World Environment Day” organized a plantation drive inside the campus aimed at campaigning for green culture and promoting a greener ecosystem along with providing a pollution-free atmosphere, by adhering to the safety and social distancing parameters in view of COVID-19.The drive was inaugurated by Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. R.V. Raja Kumar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar says, “Organization of such nature oriented drives, would create a good sense of social responsibility among our students towards the Mother Nature. These initiatives, I am sure would help in creating more awareness about the importance of growing trees to prevent global warming and thereby reduce pollution. At IIT Bhubaneswar we have been at the forefront of research pertaining to green technologies aimed at reducing the carbon footprint. On the occasion of World Environment Day, IIT Bhubaneswar pledges to earnestly take up the responsibility of giving the coming generations a healthier and cleaner environment which in turn will make a greener earth.”
The plantation of the trees was successfully carried out as per the planned schedule. Many plant saplings of different types and sizes were planted during the plantation drive. Also participated in the drives were Dr. Srinivas Bhaskar Karanki, PIC Horticulture Academic area, Lt Cdr Raj Kumar, Chief Security Officer, Shri Anuj Pradhan, Superintending Engineer, IIT Bhubaneswar along with other faculty, staff and their respective families.
