DLSA Udhampur holds webinar to celebrate World Environment Day
Udhampur: Under the guidance of Executive Chairman J&K legal Services Authority Mr. Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, J&K High Court , the District Legal Services Authority Udhampur today celebrated “World Environment Day” by conducting a Webinar in collaboration with Government Model Boys Hr. Secondary School Udhampur, Govt. model Girls Hr. Secondary School Udhampur, Govt. Model Boys Hr. Secondary School Ramnagar and Bhartiya Vidya Mandir High School, Nainsu.
Yash Paul Bourney, Chairman DLSA Udhampur was the chief guest of the Webinar, which was held under the supervision of Sub Judge, Rajni Sharma Secretary DLSA Udhampur
The Expert Resource Person in the webinar was Professor Dr. Yash Sharma, Department of Botany, University of Jammu.
The Webinar was attended by Advocate Pawan Gupta, Advocate Balwan Singh, Adv Akhil Dubey Panel Lawyers, Members of the Bar Association Udhampur, Plvs, Principal, Staff and Students of the above mentioned schools.
The Webinar started with the welcome address of Secretary DLSA Udhampur, Rajni Sharma. She said that DLSA is celebrating the day with the aim to create biodiversity in the District through its Para Legal Volunteers, Panel Lawyers and NGOs.
The Expert Resource Person Dr. Yash Sharma highlighted important linkages between sustainable use of natural resources and human well being, especially safety and quality of life and appealed to all the participants to plant more and more trees for a healthy life and clean atmosphere.
Resource persons Advocate, Balwan Singh, Adv Balwan Singh and Advocate Akhil Dubey (Panel Lawyers DLSA Udhampur) explained that it is the fundamental duty of every citizen of this country to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers, wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures. They also explained the Environment Act 1986, National Green tribunal Act, the water (prevention and control of pollution Act), the forest conservation act.
Others who spoke on the occasion were Staff and students of the various Government and Private Schools.
That apart, a Special Plantation Drive was also launched on the occasion of “World Environment Day” in collaboration with the Forest Department in the court complex Udhampur.
During the Plantation Drive, Chairman DLSA, YP Bourney and Secretary DLSA planted different types of saplings in the premises of Court Complex Udhampur and said that the plantation drive shall be carried on further.
