World Blood Donor Day observed in Women College Gandhi Nagar

 

Jammu: NSS Unit of Govt. PG College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu observed World Blood Donor Day by organizing Poster making and Slogan writing events under the patronage of Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari and supervision of NSS Programme Officer Prof. Mala Bhasin, as a part of series of events to commemorate India’s Independence- Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

To celebrate the day, a total of 60 volunteers showcased their creativity in Digital Poster Making and Slogan Writing events. In her virtual address, Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari appreciated the efforts of NSS Programme Officer and volunteers for organizing these events with great zeal and enthusiasm.

She encouraged the volunteers to take a pledge to donate the blood and give a gift of life to others as this single gesture can create a million smiles. She further added that despite all our technological advances we are still completely dependent on others for the blood and our little share of blood can give many years of life to others.

NSS PO Prof. Mala Bhasin thanked the NSS volunteers for their participation in the events.

The day is observed every year on June 14th to increase awareness of the need for the safe blood for transfusion and the critical contribution made by the unpaid blood donors. The theme of this year is- “Give Blood and Keep World beating” which highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keep the world pulsating by saving lives and improving other’s health.
