Embassy International Riding School announces Advanced Level online certification program in Equitation and Horsemanship

Bengaluru Embassy International Riding School (EIRS), Bengaluru has curated a special learning program for equestrian enthusiasts. The program is focused towards understanding the basics of the sport and horses which also includes equine health and theoretical knowledge of horse riding. The Level-1 Beginner program was launched in April 2020 and offered learners 5 cohorts to choose from:  Equine Health, Equine Nutrition, Stable Management, Equine Welfare and Behaviour, and the Theory of Riding. The program saw considerable demand from learners across the country who also expressed interest in enrolling for an Advanced version. Post the success of the Level-1 beginner program last year, EIRS today announced the start of the Level-2 Advanced Level program in Equitation and Horsemanship.

The Level-2 Advanced program is suitable for those who have successfully completed the Level-1 program, and is also open to learners who wish to directly enrol for Level 2 of the program (without completing Level 1). Learners who fall in this category will need to appear for an exam and meet the minimum score requirements. The 3 week program offers learners 5 different cohorts to choose from, with each costing Rs.4900+ GST.

Similar to the Level-1 program, the Level-2 program also offers aspirants 5 learning cohorts with the option to choose one or more of the same.

  1. Equine Anatomy

Equine Anatomy comprises the study of the structure and function of major body parts and systems of the horse. It includes study of the skeletal system, muscular system, cardiovascular system, etc. Learners will get a detailed understanding of the structure and function of a horse’s body parts and the relation to its overall health and survival.

  1. Equine Health (Advanced level)

Equine health is the study of a horse’s general health, its nutritional requirements, and basic medical needs like vaccinations and deworming. It also includes the study of common health and medical issues faced by horses in India. This can help riders and owners improve the care, precautions and safety of horses, provide them with knowledge of handling emergency situations and equip them with better decision-making power.

  1. Theory of Riding (Advanced level)

The theory of riding covers the principles of jumping, dressage and riding which are important to build a strong foundation in the sport. The advanced version will cover lateral movements of riding, the theory behind it and the process of implementing the same on a horse. This also include a detailed explanation for each exercise and movement. Learners will also be introduced to the concept of biomechanics, to understand how horses move and why.

  1. Equine Hoof and Farriery

 

A horses’s hoof plays a vital role for everyday functioning and survival. Equine Hoof and the principles of Farriery cover the anatomy of the horses’ hoof, both internal and external. This will help owners and riders to have a better understanding of the role of the hoof in the horse’s health. The principles of Farriery will cover the aspects related to increasing the shelf life of the horses, because stronger hooves give longer life for horses.

  1. Breeding and Genetics

Professional horse breeding, for the purpose of the sport, is a human aided selective process with the goal to produce a horse of a particular phenotype. There are over 300 horse breeds that exist, most of them produced by man to get the mixture of traits that address a particular requirement which could include athletic ability, coat colour, etc. Learners will understand the different types of horse breeds, their origin, and their individual traits. It also covers the basics of equine reproduction and understanding the role of genetics.

The Advanced Level of the Equitation and Horsemanship program, follows the blended learning model and offers learners a combination of theory based sessions, 3 live video discussions, an online exam and 2 online quizzes, for each cohort. The program familiarises learners with basic topics related to horses and the sport. On successful completion of the program, learners will receive an official certificate from Embassy International Riding School (EIRS).
