Chairperson, DDC Anantnag chairs series of meetings to review status of developmental, Social sector projects
Anantnag : Chairperson, District Development Council, Anantnag Mohammad Yousuf Gorsi chaired a meeting here to review the status of developmental projects / works being undertaken in the District.
Vice Chairperson, Mr Javaid Ahmad Mir, DDC members and Chairpersons of Block Development Councils besides Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag and other District officers were also present.
During the meeting, the status of various ongoing and upcoming projects of R&B, PMGSY, PHE, PDD, I&FC, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Forests, Social Forestry, ICDS and other Departments were reviewed.
Emphasis was laid on timely completion of all projects and early resolution of bottlenecks, if any, so that benefits of developmental projects accrue to the public. “Wherever, intervention of the DDC is required in taking up matters with higher authorities, Departments should bring it to our notice ” DDC Chairperson said.
All Departments were asked to share the list of ongoing and upcoming projects to be taken up during the FY 2020-21 within a week and also month wise progress reports with the DDC. It was also reiterated that DDC members & other public representatives be taken on board during both the planning as well as the implementation phase of the projects for better outcomes.
To reach out to the people and to generate awareness about the various State & Central Sector scheme especially in sectors with potential to generate employment opportunities for the youth of the district like Fisheries, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Agri and Horticulture and Industries etc, the concerned Departments were asked to hold awareness camps in every block on regular basis.
Employment generation schemes by all departments across all 16 blocks of the district should be prioritized and youth made aware about them and also facilitated to establish income generating units. Similarly, awareness regarding the many social sector schemes for women, elderly, differently abled, orphan children, girl child, SC, ST & others should be generated among the masses and for the purpose regular camps must be organized across all the blocks and the block level and other staff energised to reach out to cover all deserving.
While underscoring the need to improve the green cover in District Anantnag, the Social Forestry Department was urged to undertake plantation drives on the land available across Panchayat Halqas in consultation with the Village Plantation Panchayat Committees.
During the meeting issues pertaining to implementation of the Forest Rights Act, status of compensation on account of land acquisition and natural disasters, tendering in PMGSY projects, availability of potable water, functioning of Water Supply & lift irrigation Schemes etc were reviewed and directions issued to the concerned departments accordingly.
Pertinent to mention that Chairperson, DDC Anantnag is chairing a series of meetings to review the status of projects & schemes across all sectors with the concerned District Officers.
