The three-day virtual “Science Faculty Fest 2021” of Aligarh Muslim University Concludes

Aligarh: The three-day virtual “Science Faculty Fest 2021” of Aligarh Muslim University ended on a positive note wherein adept experts motivated students to work hard for excellence in various branches of Science.

 

Earlier in the day, the workshop on Python in Data Science was conducted by Dr Vishal Shukla (Data Scientist, Presidency University, Bangalore). He briefed the students on the importance of Python in Data Science and Machine Learning. The session was chaired by Prof Aquil Ahmed, Chairman, Department of Statistics and Operations Research, AMU. Dr Shukla appreciated the students for their enthusiasm during the workshop. Mohd Affan Khan conducted the proceeding.

 

The second day of the Fest started with “Abroad Studies” seminar delivered by two AMU alumni, Mr Seerin Ahmad (PhD., Texas University, USA) and Mr Altafur Rahman (Szent Istvan University, Budapest, Hungary).

 

Mr Seerin briefed about the entire decision making and application process for applying to abroad Institutions and standardized tests which need to be taken up by students for applying in abroad programs, especially USA.

 

Mr Altafur talked about admission process in Hungary and Europe and the exposure a candidate can get by studying abroad.

 

Personality Development Workshop was also held during the Fest. The resource person Mr Saad Hameed, TPO (General), busted several common myths about personality development while emphasizing on the role of extra curricular activities for the overall development. He encouraged the students to reach out to the TPO team for career counselling.

 

The morning session on the 2nd day concluded with the valedictory ceremony. In his valedictory address, Prof. Qazi Mazhar Ali, Dean, Faculty of Science congratulated the organising team of the Science Fest. He advised the students on the importance of participation in community discourse with mutual respect and relevance of AMU culture and the traditions.

 

The winners of the pre-event online competitions were also declared by Prof. Mazhar.

 

Zainab Al Rafat a student of B.Sc. (Hons.) final year was declared as the winner of the Essay Writing Competition while Anjali Maheshwari, a student of M.Sc. (Chemistry) 2nd year was declared the runner-up.

 

In the Poster Making Competition, Samreen Jawed (B.Sc. Hons. in Mathematics final year), and Hanzala Tahir (B.Sc. (Hons.) 2nd Year) were declared as the winner and runner up respectively. The winners will be awarded a trophy and certificates.

 

The Valedictory ceremony concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Mr Mohd Khalid, Convener, Science Faculty Fest.
