EuroSchool celebrates French International Day

Mumbai: EuroSchool, Airoli campus observed French National Day by celebrating Bastille Day this July. Students of grades 5 to 10 participated in several competitions organized by the department of foreign languages of Cambridge EuroSchool, Airoli. The celebration consisted of exciting events and workshops that gave deeper insights to the students of the French lifestyle, heritage, culture, language on the virtual platform.

A celebration commenced on 29 June and the closing ceremony held on 10th July. Different competitions were held during a week like quiz competition, storytelling looking at the picture shown in French, prepare an advertisement for a product in French, debate challenge. Even the winners were declared on the last day of the celebration. The students not only had competitions but different workshops like A dialogues on Economic inequality and discrimination – Indo French live webinar by Phillippe Guillien, a Linguistic and Educational attach for the French Embassy and the French Institute of India, Nicolas Gravel, Director of Center De Sciences Humanities, Ankit Vyas a Program Co-ordinator – Inequality and Education at Oxfam India and Ranganath Thota – Founder Fueladream. Gastronomy workshop by Chef Anees Khan, Special guest performance by Marie Elangovan. She is a celebrated Bharatanatyam dancer, a noted choreographer and a teacher. The workshop on discovering the lost French colonies of India by Sathiavathy Dharmendra a language expert from Alliance Francaise de Pondicherry, Rangan Datta a passionate teacher and Alfred Aroquianadin an expert translator and interpreter. The competitions were also judged by French experts like Aarohi Mehta, French professor, Payal Kanwar a Director-General of Indo French Chamber of Commerce and Mathilde a Master in International Cooperation and Intercultural relations.

Excited about the celebration, Geeta Agarwal Principal, EuroSchool, Airoli, said, “We are pleased to have all the eminent guests during the workshops to observe French International Day in our school. It was an exciting and memorable celebration by our students who got to learn about French culture.”
