Sanskrit University to host All India Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellors’ meet
Kalady: Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit will host Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellors’ meet on 6th and 7th of August at the university campus, Kalady. The conference will serve as a platform for exchanging ideas, experiences, and eloquent deliberation for the effective co-ordination of Sanskrit education and research across the country.
The forum, scheduled as a part of the University’s Silver Jubilee year celebrations, will be inaugurated by Padma Bhushan Prof. Satya Vrat Shastri at 10.am on 6th of August at Kanakadhara Auditorium. Prof. Shastri, a noted Sanskrit scholar, writer, critic, grammarian and poet who has three Mahakavyas, three Khandakavyas, one Prabandhakavyas and one Patrakavya and five works in critical writing in Sanskrit to his credit. The government of India bestowed him with Padma Shri in 1999, and Padma Bhushan in 2010. He has also been honoured with prestigious Jnanpith Award in 2008 for his outstanding contribution to the enrichment of the Sanskrit language.
The two days programme will host All India Sanskrit University Vice-Chancellors meet on 6th and National conference on the topic ‘Sanskrit in Contemporary India – Problems and Prospects’ on 7th August. As an endnote to the first day’s event, the celebrated exponent of Mohiniyattam, Gopika Varma will perform Namami Shankaram, a unique and famed dance-form threaded on the philosophy of Advaitha, propounded by Jagatguru Adi Sankaracharya. The second day of the event will accomodate paper presentations and discussions on the core theme ‘Sanskrit in Contemporary India – Problems and Prospects’ and related topics such as Scientific literature in Sanskrit; Sanskrit in digital age; Sanskrit sources of medical science, plant science, and veterinary science; and Sanskrit and regional languages.
