Gevorg Sargsyan Appointed New Country Manager for Belarus

MINSK – The World Bank is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Gevorg Sargsyan as Country Manager for Belarus starting July 1, 2021.

Mr. Sargsyan, an Armenian national, comes to the position after a distinguished career in the World Bank.

During his 20 years of experience at the World Bank, Mr. Sargsyan has held various positions working across sectors and regions, including as Program Manager for Climate Finance and Global Lead for Clean Energy. He has a broad knowledge of the region, having worked in many CIS countries and having led the World Bank’s infrastructure program in Russia from 2005-2008. Since 2017, Mr. Sargsyan has been the World Bank’s Manger of Operations in South-East Asia based in Myanmar

Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Sargsyan worked in senior positions at various private and public sector organizations.

He is the author and co-author of a number of publications and papers in the area of clean energy and infrastructure finance. He has an M.S. in applied math, and a Ph.D. (ABD) in economics.

Mr. Sargsyan is married and has 2 children. He likes hiking with his dog, cycling, scuba diving and photography.
