Go Swadeshi by GoCoop from 28th July to 1st August 2021 at Jayanagar

Bangalore : GoCoop, India’s first online marketplace for artisans and weavers is hosting ‘Go Swadeshi’, an exhibition showcasing handcrafted weaves from different parts of the country. The five-day event will be held from 28th July to 1st August at Poornima Convention Centre, Jayanagar from 11AM to 8PM.

The event is being organized as a part of GoCoop’s month-long campaign ‘10 Years of Crafting change’, a celebration of GoCoop’s ten years of impact on creating sustainable livelihoods for artisans. Founded by Siva Devireddy, GoCoop was started with an aim to reinstate pride in handlooms and to empower artisans. A decade ago, Siva started GoCoop with a strong belief that technology can drive social change. His mission was to strengthen and promote rural co-operatives, micro and small entrepreneurs.

Over the last several years, GoCoop has worked with 30,000+ artisans, 12,000+ women artisans while creating and supporting their livelihoods through a transparent online marketplace. GoCoop also helps handloom products to consumers and buyers globally. Even during the pandemic, GoCoop supported artisans by creating online exhibitions to help the weavers liquidate their stock. GoCoop has showcased the largest collection of handmade textiles from India with over 70,000 products across sarees, apparel, accessories, home furnishings and fabrics. In 2015, GoCoop was the winner of Govt. of India’s first National Award for Handlooms marketing (eCommerce) 2015. Additionally, GoCoop was recognised as a “Champion of Change” by Niti Aayog in 2017.

 

The current edition of ‘Go Swadeshi’ is aimed at helping the handloom sector recover from the impact of the pandemic. The five day event will have a range of contemporary and traditional handlooms from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. From the exquisite silk sarees of Karnataka, vibrant Bengal Jamdanis & Tangail sarees to the subtle elegance of Maheshwaris & Chanderis, the collection at Go Swadeshi gives handloom enthusiasts an opportunity to pick from a wide variety of authentic weaves.
