Nowshera Forest Division holds series of plantation drives

 

RAJOURI : Nowshera Forest Division today held series of plantation drives under ‘One Beat Guard One Village programme

BDC Chairman Seot, Balkrishan Sharma presided over two plantation drives at Panchayat Channi B and village Thandapani. At Panchayat Channi –B, the drive was attended by Sarpanch, Anita Sharma, Naib Sarpanch, Mohammad Ashraf, FRC secretary, members of BMC and locals, while at Village Thandapani, the drive was attended by Sarpanch Prem Kumar and other members of PRI and FRC.

All of them evinced great enthusiasm in the plantation of various species of trees. Besides, seed balls of different species of plants were also distributed among the participants.

BDC Chairman Siot welcomed this innovative step of the Forest Department. He said that the environment is degrading day by day and it can only be restored by massive plantations. “Holding village wise plantation drives and providing planting material and imparting planting techniques at our doorsteps is a welcome step of the Forest Department” he added.

The twin plantation process was carried out by Beat guard Channi Yesh Paul Sharma in presence of BO Sunderbani and other field staff and Beat Guard Thandapani Arun Kumar.

Another drive was conducted by Suraj Parkash Beat Guard Hardumalara Panchayat. Sarpanch Bawa Ditta, panches, besides local men and women participated in the plantation of different species of seed balls, fruit plants, fodder and timber plants.

Similarly a plantation drive was also held at Kangri which was organised by Ashok Kumar, Beat Guard Meenka and Sarpanch Anil Kumar; Naib Sarpanch Pawan Kumar and other members of PRIs, members of BMC and FRC. Seed balls and Medicinal and fodder plants were also distributed among the locals.

All the drives were conducted under the direct supervision of B. Mohandas, Conservator of Forests West Circle Rajouri, Suresh Manda, Divisional Forest Officer Nowhera and Rakesh Verma Range Officer Sunderbani.
