Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department discusses skill development action plans with DCs of Jammu division

 

SRINAGAR : Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today chaired a meeting to review progress on skill development action plans of the districts of the Jammu division.

Secretary in Skill Development Department, Nazim Zai Khan; Director Skill Development, Sudershan Kumar; Deputy Commissioners of several districts of Jammu Division; State Engagement Officer, NSDC Kehkashan Anjum, Incharge Admin JSDM, Dr Shafqat Ara and other concerned attended the meeting in person and through virtual mode.

The meeting in detail discussed the District Skill Action of all the district of Jammu division with the Deputy Commissioners, senior district administration officers, Superintendents of various ITIs and other concerned.

The concerned DCs and representatives of other districts briefed the meeting with respect to their respective districts about the status of the implementation of skill development action plans in the districts.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal Secretary impressed upon the concerned for the convergence of different departments in order to provide skill developments and market driven trainings and programmes to the youth in the ITIs.

While discussing the plans of respective districts, Dr Samoon instructed the concerned to incorporate skills and training courses in their plans according to the regional requirement with a focus on the local industry needs to fill the skill gap in these districts.

He further asked the officers to upgrade the training modules under schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) in order to make a robust skill oriented ecosystem where youth will be trained for better employability.

While asking the concerned district heads to target the filling of all seats in their respective ITIs, he said that no seats should remain vacant in all these ITIs while providing course modules of different time durations as per the district and local requirements.

Dr Samoon further said that Institute Management Committees (IMCs) be constituted in all the ITIs on priority, besides placement drives of ITI passouts should be conducted.
