Aligarh Muslim University: Webinar on Skilling and Career Growth

Aligarh, August 4: “Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotics are the new realities of the changing job landscape, coupled with ecological changes, and hence soft skills, empathy, body language, effective communication, priority setting, determining relevance and truth, adaptability, information analysis, etc. are the key factors for career growth and development for students”, said Mr Alok Nidhi Gupta, AMU alumnus and Managing Director “TalentRecruit”.

He was addressing a Webinar on skilling and career growth for young graduates, organised by the Training and Placement Office (TPO, General), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), in association with TalentRecruit, Bangalore.

Addressing the webinar on “what are the investments in the skills and qualifications that young graduates can make for themselves for this decade”, Mr Gupta talked about today’s scenario and compared it with the ‘India at 2030’ future scope and opportunities for skilled manpower. He emphasised that information communication and technology, manufacturing, infrastructure and construction, pharmaceutical, telecom and other allied sectors will be the larger job providers in the future.

Sharing his experiences in the field of biotechnology, Prof. Asad Ullah Khan (Deputy Director, IQAC and Professor, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, AMU) talked about innovations and skills needed to explore new vistas of entrepreneurial opportunities and start-ups.

He discussed descriptive and incremental innovation and said that one can initiate a start-up with an idea which can come with rigorous reading and research. “There are many government agencies which provide funds to help people incubate and sell ideas to big companies. We should think in the direction of our dreams and start thinking about creating jobs, not searching jobs”, said Prof Khan.

Earlier in the webinar, Mr. Saad Hameed,Training and Placement Officer, AMU said the new age demands new competencies and skills which young graduates must acquire.

Dr. Muzamil Mushtaq, Assistant TPO (General), AMU welcomed the guests and participants and introduced the speakers of the webinar.

Mr. Bhaskar Menon, Marketing Manager, TalentRecruit coordinated the webinar with TPO (General) and moderated the Question and Answer session.

Trishna Agarwal, student of MHRM, Department of Commerce and TPO coordinator conducted the webinar, while Lalima Gupta, from the same Department and TPO coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.

More than 500 AMU students attended the webinar.
