Know Your Country Competition Finale on 7th August: Gandhi Global Family

New Delhi: Gandhi Global Family, a United Nations DGC recognised Peace NGO, in collaboration with Nityanootan Varta Haryana, Mandsaur University, Madhya Pradesh and Manchester International School, Tamil Nadu successfully conducted ‘Know Your Country’ Competition where Young Gandhians of junior category (from 9th – 12th Std) across country highlighted the socio, economic, political & cultural significance of the country based on Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of India and United Nations’ SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

 

Know Your Country 2021 Competition was launched & inaugurated on 16th June 2021 by Shri. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Former Union Minister of India & Former Chief Minister Jammu & Kashmir as the President of the GGF. After the successful conduct of five rounds of the competition, the best six Young Gandhians (of junior category) of six zones of the country have been selected and will contest during the finale via ZOOM weblink on 07th August 2021 (Saturday) at 7:00 PM (Indian Standard Time). Shri Azad shall preside over the finale as Chief Guest along with PadmaShri Dr. S.P. Varma & other national and international invitees.

 

Know Your Country is based on ‘Bharat Jodo Abhiyan’ which was launched by eminent Gandhian Baba Amte ji in 1986. The objective of Know Your Country 2021 is to encourage Young Gandhians of the country to get more aware & highlight the unique cultures, rich history, SDGs statistics and other important salient features of their region and country.

 

The Guests of Honour who will join globally to encourage the Young Gandhians are Mrs Kiran Mehra Kerpelman, former Head Advisory & Campaigns ILO, Geneva, Mrs Beth Akhiyama Director, Church of Scientology, Washington DC, USA, Rev Father Valson Thampu, Former Principal St Stephens’s College, University of Delhi, Mrs Heidi Kuhn, Founder Roots of Peace, USA, Dr Dominic Shellard, International Educationist, England, Mr Prabhjot Sodhi, former Country Head Circular Economy, UNDP India and other leading lights from India and Gandhian followers.

 

A bench of four judges comprising of GGF Spokesperson Mr Ashhok Kapoor (Delhi), GGF Women Chairperson (Port Blair) Mrs Anuradha Lal (Andaman & Nicobar Islands), GGF Jammu Advisor Mr R. Robin Gill and representative Mandsaur University, Madhya Pradesh Dr (Prof) Reshmi Deo Choudhary will judge the students’ performance during the finale of the national level competition.

 

During the final round of the Know Your Country Competition, six Young Gandhians from across the country from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to Arunachal Pradesh got selected after multiple shortlisting’s, will present themselves to the large audience comprising of students, senior educationists & academicians from various University, Colleges & Schools, Army veterans, eminent Gandhians and international dignitaries. They will be facilitated online with awards and cash prizes by the dignitaries as the results are announced.
