CUPB organized a special lecture on ‘Effective Implementation of NEP-2020’

Bathinda: The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) under the patronage of Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari organized a special lecture on “Effective implementation of National Education Policy-2020”. The keynote speaker of this programme was Shri Shankarananda BR, Joint Organising Secretary, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal (BSM), New Delhi.

 

In his keynote address Shri Shankarananda BR highlighted the role of BSM in assessing the response of the country’s academicians to the draft NEP-2020 and suggesting transformative educational reforms to the committee constituted to draft NEP-2020. He asserted that the effective implementation of NEP-2020 will surely pave the way to make India a ‘Knowledge VishwaGuru’ and mentioned that the Central University of Punjab could play an important role to inspire other educational institutions by becoming a role model university of India with proper implementation of all reforms of NEP-2020.

 

While interacting with participants, Shri Shankarananda underlined the key areas for effective implementation of NEP-2020 that includes the development of multi-disciplinary educational environment; formulation of course curriculum on the basis of learning outcomes; introduction of add-on courses to develop additional skills and inculcate moral values; awareness of Indian Knowledge Traditions; and adoption of student-centric teaching pedagogies based on experiential learning. He motivated teachers to train students on the methodology of how to learn new knowledge and assist them to become physically strong, mentally strong, spiritually rooted, intellectually creative and socially productive citizen of our country.

 

Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice Chancellor, in his presidential address, expressed his gratitude towards the distinguished speaker. He exhorted that various innovative reforms introduced in NEP-2020 w.r.t. introduction of four quadrants learning approach, optimum utilization of ICT in education etc. would not only help the students to adopt a self-directed learning approach but would also contribute to develop humans of high moral standards. He stated that as a part of implementation of NEP-2020, the Central University of Punjab has already adopted learning outcome-based curriculum approach in teaching. Prof. Tiwari also informed that the university will very shortly launch the Academic Bank of Credits Scheme along with several add on courses to promote inter-disciplinary education.

 

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Deepak Chauhan. Towards the end, Shri Kanwal Pal Singh Mundra, the Registrar delivered a formal vote of thanks. University officials, faculty, and staff members participated in this programme.
