Oxford University Press India unveils 4 new titles according to the AICTE Model Curriculum 2018

New Delhi: Oxford University Press, world’s largest university press, has launched a suite of four titles catering to the AICTE Model Curriculum 2018, for first year B. Tech students. The titles were launched at a student workshop on Python Programming, organized at Babu Banarasi Das Engineering College, Lucknow. OUP is one of the first few publishers to have released titles according to the new curriculum.

The new titles launched by the Press are; Principles of Basic Electrical Engineering, T.N. Nagsarkar & M.S. Sukhija; English Language and Communication Skills for Engineers, Sanjay Kumar & Pushp Lata; Programming in C, Reema Thareja; and Programming in C, Pradip Dey & Manas Ghosh. These titles have specially been curated to cater to all significant changes suggested in the curriculum, and ensure that faculty and students are timely provided with quality resources for an updated and enriching learning experience.

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the statutory body and national-level council for technical education, under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, has revamped the curriculum for engineering and other technical courses across the country, in order to meet changing demands of the industry and increase employability of students. The new curriculum was released in January 2018.

The syllabus suggests a number of significant changes – ranging from reducing the total number of credits and an emphasis on practical courses to making summer internships mandatory in the industry for about two to three months, with an aim to impart practical learning to students. A significant number of major universities across the country have already adopted the new curriculum.
