North East Frontier Technical University ( NEFTU) Celebrates 4th Foundation Day
New Delhi: The North East Frontier Technical University (NEFTU) completed four glorious years of coming into existence and celebrated its 4th Foundation Day . The Minister of Tourism for State (Arunachal Pradesh) Shri Jarik Gamlin was the invited Chief Guest on the auspicious occasion.
The chief guest and a host of other invited dignitaries such as Swamiji of Ramakrishna Mission Aalo, and Shri Sode Potom Deputy Commissioner West Siang present at the august gathering, lighted the candle to begin the proceedings of the event.
Honorable Chancellor and Founder of NEFTU Shri Dileep K. Nair and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Tejum Padu were also present during the foundation day celebrations.
A short video of University was screened to highlight the journey and the achievements of NEFTU in such a short span of time. The video explained how the varsity is setting landmarks in the field of education in the North Eastern state.
Addressing the gathering of students and faculties, Shri Gamlin reflected upon the fact that how NEFTU had opened the floodgates for an educational revolution in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. He stated that quality and specialized education along with business and commerce are the need of the hour for the development of the state.
Gamlin further added that the NEFTU has opened the doors for the students who want to pursue further studies in various discipline and said it is no less than a boon for the students of the north-eastern state. He urged the students to focus on their studies and take the benefits of the institution to fulfill the growing aspirations and expectations of their parents. He further emphasized that earlier parents had to send their wards to other states for higher education which would pose a huge financial burden on them, but not anymore.
Gamlin informed that the state government has already decided to constitute a Staff Selection Board to select all the officials of the State through the board, and merit alone will be the criteria of future selections. He urged the faculty members, coming from different parts of the country, to give their best in moulding the students and bring worthy intellectuals in the society.
Addressing the gathering of the invited guests and students, NEFTU founder, Shri Nair said, “I thank all the invited guests for joining us to mark the fourth foundation day of our institution. We have journeyed quite a long way in such a short span of time and it gives me immense pleasure to inform that NEFTU is very soon going to begin the construction of its new campus.”
“Our motto is not to mint money, but to re-invest the money in and upgrade the varsity and develop its facilities. As of now, we have limited resources because of the non-development of rural areas such as Aalo. But the people of West Siang district are also coming forward to support us and they are helping us to make it this project a success.”
In his keynote address, Dr. Tejum Padu, Vice Chancellor NEFTU, outlined the history, affiliation of the university with various education councils and various activities of the college. He said that the university is not dumping all disciplines in one go but gradually striving hard to take up all possible disciplines to mitigate the educational needs of the students.
Other dignitaries and bureaucrats also applauded the efforts taken up by the NEFTU authorities to spread accessible and affordable education amongst the general population of Arunachal Pradesh.
The best faculty award was given to Ms. Jungam Kamduk, Faculty of Arts and Humanities (Sociology Department).
The university students also showcased their talents in the function with their entertaining song and dance performances. The NEFTU fraternity vowed to conduct many more such successful Foundation Days in the future for that will help to highlight the university’s journey.
