HCL Supports SUHAM Community Hospital with Medical Equipment

Enhances provisions for affordable and accessible health services to underprivileged and vulnerable communities in Madurai

Madurai : As part of its efforts to help the underprivileged and vulnerable communities cope with the adverse effects of the pandemic, HCL, a leading global conglomerate, today provided medical equipment to upgrade the 27-bedded SUHAM Community Hospital in the city. The equipment includes three ventilators, 10 multipara monitors, digital X-ray machine and other medical equipment and accessories. Shri. S. Thirumurugan, Head, HCL Technologies, Madurai, handed over the equipment in the presence of Shri M.P Vasimalai, Executive Director, Dhan Foundation.
SUHAM Community Hospital is an initiative of Sustainable Health care Advancement (SUHAM) Trust, a partner organization of HCL Foundation. Speaking at the occasion, Shri. S. Thirumurugan, Head, HCL Technologies, Madurai said, “The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all strata of our society. However, the poor communities are particularly vulnerable given their living conditions and limited access to health care facilities. HCL’s COVID-19 response efforts are aimed at enhancing health care infrastructure across the country to ensure adequate availability of services. SUHAM Trust is our long-standing partner and together we have taken an important step to ensure availability of quality health care for the poor and vulnerable communities in the city.”
Talking about the initiative, Shri M.P Vasimalai, Executive Director, Dhan Foundation said, “We are thankful to HCL for stepping in to help upgrade the medical and other equipment at our community hospital that caters to the poor sections of the society. With this, we hope to be able to provide enhanced care services to a large number of people.”
HCL and SUHAM Trust have been working together to promote healthy and hygienic living in the slums of Madurai city. A huge part of their current efforts includes building awareness for vaccination drives in vulnerable communities. HCL has earlier supported the frontline workers from the Health Department, Government Rajaji Hospital and the Police Department of Madurai with PPE kits, hand gloves and masks.
