Competitions on ‘Elimination of Single-Use Plastics’ at STS School
Aligarh : Mohd Kamran (Class VIII) won the poster-making and slogan-writing competitions on ‘Elimination of Single-Use Plastics’ of the STS School, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), while Manya Gupta (Class VII) bagged the first prize for her elocution on severe environmental consequences of ‘Single-Use Plastics’ in the speech-competition.
Mohd Altaf Viquar (Class VII) and Imran Khan (Class VI) stood second and third respectively in the poster competition; Abdur Rehman Saleem (Class VIII) finished second with Mohd Faisal (Class IX) at the third place in slogan-writing and Pratham Pathak (Class VII) and Mohd Meesam (Class IX) were respective second and third place holders in the speech competition.
“These posters, slogans and speeches highlight how plastic ends up in landfills, water bodies and the environment, contaminating our soil and water. The world’s global plastic disaster sounds downright scary, but we can still change our fate and competitions like these will go a long way in bringing awareness among the young”, said Mr Faisal Nafis (Principal, STS School).
Ms Nasreen Fatima and Ms Sufia Khan organised the programme.
