One day awareness on PHM of fruit crops held at Sirhama, Ang

 

ANANTNAG : The Department of Horticulture (P&M) Anantnag today organised a one day awareness camp on Post Harvest Management (PHM) of fruit crops at Sirhama, here.

The aim of the camp was to raise awareness among the growers and traders regarding post harvest activities like grading, packing, cold storage and marketing etc.

On the occasion, the speakers/resource persons of the department highlighted the schemes of the department which have been framed to boost the quality and quantity of the produce.

Schemes pertaining to the fruit industry like Prime Minister Formulation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME), ODOP, Operation Green, Direct Marketing, Market Intervention Scheme, establishment and development of fruit and vegetable markets, e-NAM and agriculture infrastructure fund were elaborated in detail.

Question answer session was also held in which growers raised some relevant queries related to dose rate of insecticides and pesticides, indications of mineral deficiencies, premature downfall of flowers and fruits etc which were answered on spot.

The camp was attended by AMO Mushtaq Ahmad, resource person, Dr Ishtiyaq, field functionaries and a number of local growers and traders.
