IIT Madras Calls for Applications for Executive MBA Degree Program

Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has called for applications for its Executive MBA (EMBA) Degree Program, which is designed specifically for mid-career Working Professionals.

This two-year program, which offers a rigorous yet practice-oriented curriculum, including three projects that apply theory to live business problems, is from the Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras.

The USP of the EMBA program is to offer state-of-the-art knowledge that is in sync with the industry requirements in domains such as digital economy, global strategy and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Besides the traditional subjects, it also offers exposure to Social Media and Internet Marketing, which is vital to any contemporary Business, the Economics of Platforms, and Global Business Management. Other important subjects include Cyber Security and Applications. Also, the students would receive exposure to technical aspects like Modern Manufacturing processes and 3D Printing, among others.

Speaking about the EMBA program Prof. G. Arun Kumar, Head, Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, said, “The stature of the EMBA program of the department has been steadily growing with the overwhelming support from the industry. The average experience of our students joining the program is over 11 years and they belong to a diverse set of industries in both public and private sectors. The program leverages the Department’s fifty-year tradition of cutting-edge research and teaching, and is designed to be experiential in nature, by allowing participants to apply the course-learnings to their work.”

The major aspects of the course include equipping mid-career working professionals with the following:

Ø Deep functional and broad industrial domain knowledge,

Ø Integrative perspective of boundary-spanning business decisions, and

Ø Leadership traits to contribute to a global business setup

The program is designed for blended weekend learning (physical and virtual). The classes, which will be held over alternate weekends, will begin in January 2022.

The eligibility for Admissions include First Class Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline, Minimum of three years of Industry Experience and a Selection through DoMS Entrance Examination and Personal Interview (virtual)

The structure of the EMBA programme is:

Ø A Functional Foundational – that provides theoretical, conceptual and insightful understanding of major functions and department roles in businesses

Ø Integrated Perspective – which helps develop strategic perspectives on cross-functional challenges and inter-department synergies.

Ø Global Leadership –which explores growth, profitability and sustainability avenues in local and global business contexts.

Ø Three Capstone projects designed for developing deeper insight into the application of advanced management concepts.
