Capgemini Deploys 25 ICU Beds at ID&BG Hospital in Kolkata
Kolkata: Capgemini today announced that it has deployed 25 ICU Beds in IB-3 Ward at ID&BG Hospital, Kolkata. These ICU beds are funded by Capgemini as part of its commitment of Rupees 50 crore to augment medical infrastructure across India.
The ICU beds were virtually inaugurated by Ms Chandrima Bhattacharya, Honorable Minister of State for Department of Urban Development & Municipal Affairs (Independent Charge), Department of Health & Family Welfare and Department of L&LR and RR&R, Government of West Bengal. Also present at the virtual inauguration were Ashwin Yardi, CEO of Capgemini in India; other senior Government of West Bengal officials from the Department of Health & Family Welfare and other leaders from respective hospital and Capgemini during the inauguration.
These 25 ICU beds will benefit in the long term by handling serious patients not just during COVID time but also much beyond COVID.
“Over the last one year, Capgemini has responded with numerous initiatives to support the local communities during the pandemic. The deployment of ICU beds at ID&BG Hospital, Kolkata reiterates our commitment to augment the medical infrastructure across the country,” said Ashwin Yardi, CEO of Capgemini in India.
This initiative is part of Capgemini’s 50 crore commitment to deploy nearly 185 ICU beds, 12 Oxygen plants and 1100 Oxygen concentrators that is distributed Pan India. These medical infrastructures are installed across 19 government and public hospitals in seven states. These hospitals will enable access to the state-of-art medical facilities to people across cities, rural and tribal districts.
Also, during 2020, Capgemini’s Social Response Unit (SRU) provided 100 Oxygen Concentrators, 65 High Flow Nasal Cannulas and 25 testing kiosks for COVID testing at Bangalore as well as deployed 65 fully equipped Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds across three municipal hospitals in Mumbai.
