Foreign Scribes celebrated Diwali at IIMC
New Delhi : Foreign Journalists from 16 countries currently pursuing a course in Development Journalism at the prestigious Indian Institute of Mass Communication celebrated Diwali the festival of lights with enthusiasm this evening.
At a Diwali get together organized by the institute DG Shri KG Suresh, the 24 scholars lit diyas (traditional oil lamps) and candles and exchanged greetings with the faculty members and staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Suresh Said, “Diwali symbolizes the victory of good over evil and all countries must unite to fight the evil forces of Terrorism, Poverty, Illiteracy and Unemployment. Later the scholars enjoyed traditional snacks and sweets.”
The DJ programme is fully funded by the Ministry of External Affairs (Government of India) under its ITEC and SCAAP.
The institute has trained over 1600 mid career journalists from 128 Countries, since 1969.
