Series of promotional activities mark launch of Clean India Campaign in Jammu Division

 

JAMMU : A series of promotional activities, including awareness rallies, cleanliness and plantations drives marked the launch of Clean India Campaign in Jammu Division being held to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti.

At Kathua: Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Yadav kick started ‘Clean India campaign’ by flagging off a fleet of Waste Collection Vehicles from the DC Office complex in presence of the DDC Member and officers of line departments.

While giving details of the campaign, the Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Yadav said that a month-long calendar of activities has been rolled out under the Clean India Programme. He said the stakeholder departments, PRIs and Urban Local Bodies have been roped in to undertake activities and have assigned plastic and other waste collection targets. He said the activities are part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations of the district administration.

At Rajouri: Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan launched the Clean India Campaign here from the Lawns of the DC office complex where a Swachhta pledge was administered to the participants. The pledge was read out by DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir.

Among the others, ADDC, Pawan Kumar; ADC Rajouri, Sachin Dev Singh; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; CEO Education, Gulzar Hussain; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; CAO, Shabana Azmin; DSWO, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt; ARTO, Shami Kumar besides people in large numbers including senior citizens, women and youth were present on the occasion.

Similar functions were organised at Sub-divisional level and block level and Offices and surroundings were made clean.

At Poonch: A pledge taking ceremony by the officers of district administration marked the launch of Clean India Campaign in Poonch District.

Deputy Commissioner, Inder Jeet; Additional District Development Commissioner, Abdul Sattar; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Basharat Hussain; Additional Superintendent of Police, Liaqat Choudhary took the Swachhta Pledge administered by District Youth Officer, NYK Nitin Hangloo,.

The District Administration has framed a detailed Calendar of Activities for the month-long campaign by roping in all the Departments, Organisations, PSUs, Religious Bodies, Civil Society and others.

Later, the DDC inaugurated Clean India Programme at Krishan Chander Park.

At Doda: District Development Commissioner, Vikas Sharma flagged off month-long “Clean India” campaign from Sports stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC laid thrust on cleanliness and asked all the stakeholders across the district to actively participate in the campaign.

Later, the participants at the venue collected the garbage around the stadium and disposed of the same in an appropriate manner.

At Ramban: District Administration Ramban launched ‘Clean India Campaign’ with Swachhata pledge taking ceremony led by Deputy Commissioner Mussarat Islam.

ADDC, Rajinder Sharma; ADC, Harbans Sharma; ACR, Dhirendra Sharma; CPO, Dr. Kasturi Lal and other district and sectoral officers also participated in the cleanliness drive.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of an India which was not only free but also clean and developed. ‘Now it is our duty to serve our country by keeping the country neat and clean,’ he added.

He exhorted the officers and staff members to devote 100 hours per year that is two hours per week, to voluntarily clean the surrounding areas.

The DC informed that the District Administration has issued a month long activity calendar being for government departments, PSUs, PRIs.

Earlier, the Department of Youth Services and Sports conducted Clean India drive at Maitra Park in which about 30 students and staff members participated.

At Kishtwar: Department of Youth Services and Sports under the aegis of District Administration Kishtwar conducted cleanliness drive at historical Chowgan ground to mark the start of Clean India Campaign.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma , the chief guest of the occasion, kick-started the drive. The participants collected the garbage, removed the trash and plastic wastes, litters and handed it over to municipal authorities for proper disposal.

The event was attended by all PELs, PEMs, PETs, REKs, NYCs & ground men of the department.

At Jammu: The Clean India Program was formally launched in District Jammu by Nehru Yuva Kendra in collaboration with the district administration. The Swachhata pledge was administered to all participants by Chameel Singh

Dy Director youth service and sports Nisar Ahmed Butt; Dy Director Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu; District Youth Service and Sports Officer Sukhdev Singh; ZPEOs, youth club members and volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra took part in Swachhata drive conducted from GreenField Park to Gole market Jammu.
