DDC Anantnag flags off Clean India Programme

ANANTNAG: As the part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla flagged off the “Clean India Programme” today at Sports Stadium Anantnag, here. The programme will continue for a month and will culminate on October 31.

The programme is being organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan in collaboration with Departments of Youth Services and Sports, Education, Municipal Council Anantnag and others.

During the programme, multiple cleanliness and sanitation activities will be conducted to clean up the sorroundings from garbage and waste material besides enhancing the aesthetic appeal of the district.

Interacting with the volunteers of NYK and YSS and Safai Karamcharis of MC, the DDC said the fresh drive is being taken in addition to the routine cleanliness activities. He said that number of activities like sports competitions, cultural events, cleanliness drives etc have been conducted in the district under AKAM Programme.

Meanwhile, Dr. Singla directed the concerned officers to conduct cleanliness drives in “black spots” and other areas where the garbage accumulation is the highest. He also called for proper felicitation of participants and volunteers besides awarding the best performers.

The DDC further said that with collective efforts of administration, departments and the general public there will be remarkable on-ground progress on cleanliness and sanitation in the district.

ADDC, CPO, CEO MC Anantnag, CEO, Deputy Director NYK, DYSSO and other officials of concerned departments also attended the flagging off ceremony.
