International Corporate Meet held
ALIGARH : “Entrepreneurship, instead of a job, is a better option to cash in on one’s skills acquired during studies as it enables him or her to become a job provider, rather than a job seeker”, said the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Professor Tariq Mansoor while addressing the inaugural session of an online International Corporate Meet, organized by the Training and Placement Office (General), AMU.
He said corporate meets are significant to build a mutually beneficial relationship between the business world and the academia and AMU students should prepare themselves for the job market from the very first day of starting their studies at AMU.
Professor Mansoor urged them to learn corporate manners and acquire adequate skills during their stay to make themselves imminent for the corporate world. He emphasized the significance of networking with the AMU alumni and how they could play a vital role in building relationships with the corporate world.
He said the Covid pandemic, while posing challenges to various human activities, including education and jobs, has at the same time created newer avenues in these fields and the senior industry experts and resource persons, partaking in this meet, would highlight the issues, challenges and opportunities arising in the job market in the post-Covid world.
He said AMU has introduced several job-oriented courses such as B.Tech. and M.Tech. in Artificial intelligence, M. Sc. in Data Science, etc., to equip the students with the latest technological education.
The chief guest, Mr Imad Malik (CEO, Sharaf Exchange, Dubai) highlighted the upcoming trends in the job market and the skills students needed to acquire to make them employable. He mentioned the role of AMU in his success story and urged the students to read good motivational books and take learning from the success stories of achievers. He also advised them to make best use of facilities and the quality education offered by AMU. He assured that his organization will explore the possibilities of tie-up with AMU for providing internships, jobs and training on live projects to AMU students.
Guest of honour, Ms Roopa Hasan (Senior HR, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority – DEWA) stressed the importance of Life Skills and advantages of being happy and maintaining a proper Work-Life balance. She urged the students to keep upgrading their knowledge and skills to successfully face the challenges of the job market, while maintaining a healthy emotional quotient.
Earlier, Professor Imran Saleem (Convener of the event) welcomed the guests and underlined the importance of organizing and attending corporate meets on a regular basis.
Ms Amrah Mariam (Training and Placement Coordinator, University Women’s Polytechnic) highlighted the objectives of the corporate meet and moderated the technical session along with Mr Naqi Abbas, an AMU alumnus and the founder of Enable Careers.
Ms Lalima Gupta and Ms Trishna Agarwal, student volunteers, TPO (General) introduced the guests and panelists.
Mr Naqi Abbas, Mr Saad Hameed (TPO-General) and Ms Amrah Maryam moderated a panel discussion on “Education and employability: Is it a new normal in the post-Covid era?” Mr Abhishek Talwar (CEO, Hexaview Technologies, Noida), Ms Zainab Jabri (Delloite, Mumbai), Mr Alok N Gupta (MD, Talent Recruit, Bengaluru), Mr Dheeraj Modi (Global HR Head, NLB Services, Gurugram) and Mr Faizan Khwaja (VP, Cambay Consulting), discussed and shared their views.
Mr Saad Hameed presented the concluding remarks while Dr Jahangir Alam, Assistant TPO (General) conducted the programme and Dr Mansoor Alam Siddiqui, TPO Women’s College proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Muzammil Mushtaq, Assistant TPO (General) played an important role in the successful organization of the corporate meet.
More than 800 students, faculty members, departmental TPOs and industry experts attended the meet.
