Politecnico di Milano: Second Edition Of The “Leonardo Drone Contest” Goes To The Politcnico Di Milano
Following last year’s victory, the Politecnico di Milano also won the second edition of the “Leonardo Drone Contest. An Open Innovation Challenge”, a competition launched by Leonardo, in collaboration with six Italian universities, to promote the development of Artificial Intelligence applied to unmanned systems (drones).
The team from the Politecnico, comprising Gabriele Roggi, Salvatore Meraglia, Mattia Giurato, Marco Lovera and Matteo Matteucci, developed the autonomous navigation, trajectory planning, collision avoidance and landing systems for the ROG-2 drone, developed in collaboration with the ANT-X spin-off.
The competition was held over several rounds from 28 to 30 September in Turin, at Leonardo’s aircraft division headquarters, where teams from the Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna di Pisa, Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata and Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II competed.
