National Museum of Indian Cinema set to welcome cine lovers , re-opening on 22 October 2021
New Delhi: The National Museum of Indian Cinema (NMIC), a kaleidoscope of the history of Indian cinema, is all set to welcome cine lovers from India and abroad, after a temporary closure due to Covid19 pandemic. The one-of-its-kind Museum in India is re-opening, with all statutory SOPs in place, on 22nd October 2021. The Museum is located at the Films Division Complex, GD Marg (Pedder Road), Mumbai and will remain open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday. The NMIC will remain closed on Monday and public holidays.
The state-of-the-art Museum was inaugurated by the Prime Minister in January, 2019. Since then, NMIC hosted a large number of cinephiles, tourists, students and diginitaries from across the world. The Museum is designed to take visitors through an absorbing journey of Indian Cinema over a century in a story telling mode with the help of visuals, graphics, artifacts, interactive exhibits and multimedia expositions. The Museum is housed in two buildings –the 19th century heritage structure, Gulshan Mahal and the New Museum Building. The NMIC showcases the resplendent history of Cinema and houses many rare artifacts including vintage cameras, editing and sound equipments, lights, lenses, projectors etc. An exclusive gallery dedicated to ‘Gandhi and Cinema’ and a ‘Kid’s Studio’ add to the attractions the Museum offer.
