DC Bandipora reviews e-SHRAM Portal
BANDIPORA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Monday chaired a meeting to review the implementation and registration of unorganized workers on National Database for Unorganized Workers (NDUW)-e-SHRAM portal in Bandipora district.
On the occasion, the DC directed the officers of all the departments to register the daily wagers associated with their respective departments on an e-shram portal including that of Asha workers, Anganwari workers etc.
The DDC further asked the concerned officers to work in proper coordination in monitoring of mobilisation of target sub-groups of unorganised workers like MGNREGA workers, SHG members under NRLM and NULM, street vendors, Auto drivers, construction (BOCW) workers, mid-day meal workers, domestic workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, Agricultural labourers and Fishermen through respective line departments for registration under e-SHRAM in terms of defined targets.
He said e-SHRAM portal launched by the Government is aimed at facilitating better execution of various Social Security schemes for all unorganised workers. He said the portal will not only register the unorganised workers of the district but also be helpful in delivering various social security schemes being implemented by the Government.
Earlier, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Mohammad Arif gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation about the use of the e-SHRAM portal. He apprised the chair that till date 2647 unorganised workers have been registered in the district since the launch of the e-SHRAM portal while efforts are on to register other unorganized workers. Officials said the unorganized workers can register at the nearest CSC or can register themselves on the portal.
Dr Owais said it is the initiative of the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment for building a national database of unorganised workers and is an effort towards formalisation of unorganised workforce that will help to identify unorganized sector workers and is a much-needed step towards ensuring benefits of all Government Security schemes reaches to the targeted workers and their families.
The DC stressed the officers to ensure holding of regular registration camps at the district and CSC level for the unorganised workers. He said such awareness camps would prove helpful to disseminate Information, Education and Communication (IEC) amongst the prospective beneficiaries of e-SHRAM and their implementation through the Labour and Employment department and other official machinery.
He also stressed the representatives of various Workers Unions and Associations present in the meeting to convince and mobilise their respective members to register under the e-SHRAM portal to get benefits of Government schemes.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Assistant Labor Commissioner, Mohammad Arif, District Information Officer Jahangeer Akhoon and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
