UC San Diego: UC San Diego Faculty Club to Reopen its Doors on Nov. 1
The UC San Diego Faculty Club—a retreat for colleagues to connect over meals and conversation—will reopen Nov. 1 with new menu offerings, a revamped outdoor space and special promotion.
After a temporary closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the campus fixture will soon welcome back faculty and campus community members to dine, reconnect, host meetings and more. The club recently partnered with UC San Diego Housing Dining and Hospitality to present guests with enticing new menus for breakfast and lunch.
New menu items include an avocado BLT sandwich, a quinoa kale salad, and pasta primavera, to name a few. For a sweet treat, the Faculty Club dessert selection offers options such as a peach crumble sundae and a peanut butter chocolate bar. The new menu also offers vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
With COVID-19 safety guidelines in place, the club’s traditional buffet has transitioned into a table service style of dining. Guests on the go are able to use mobile order as a convenient take-out option, available through the Triton2Go mobile ordering app.
When visitors step foot into the club, they are now welcomed by a freshly renovated interior as well as revamped outdoor space for al fresco dining. Guests also have a multitude of dining space options to choose from, including significant outdoor seating areas. In addition to the main dining room, the club features six private meeting rooms, Cecil’s Lounge and patio, the Seuss Library, Atkinson Pavilion and an interior courtyard.
As part of a campaign to welcome new faces to the longtime campus fixture, university faculty, staff and graduate students are encouraged to visit the UC San Diego Faculty Club through December, no membership required. The club’s food and drink offerings are available to all visitors at cost.
The Faculty Club is currently offering the following promotion:
Regardless of membership status, the club is open to all faculty, staff and graduate students during fall quarter.
No membership dues until January 2022.
Members will continue receiving discounted prices on food and drink.
Lynda Claassen, president of the UC San Diego Faculty Club, said she hopes that community members returning to campus this fall will find the club as a relaxing spot amid the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
“I like visiting the Faculty Club because it’s a quiet place to have lunch, hold conversations and meet friends,” she shared, reflecting on her favorite aspects of the venue.
Beginning Nov. 1, the Faculty Club will be open for lunch service from Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Courtyard Breakfast service will begin the following week on Nov. 8, from 7:30 to 10 a.m.
The Faculty Club will also host its traditional Members’ Holiday Party on December 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. New and continuing members are invited to join in a festive event featuring music, raffle prizes and more.
