IIMB’s Software & IT Management Centre and CSITM to host the Software Product Management Summit at IIMB on Feb 14 & 15
Bangalore: The Centre for Software and Information Technology Management (CSITM) at IIM Bangalore, in association with the International Software Product Management Association (ISPMA), will host the Software Product Management Summit at IIMB, on February 14 and 15 (Thursday and Friday), 2019.
Professor Rahul Dé, Chair, Centre for Software and IT Management, and Chair of the Information Systems area at IIM Bangalore, said: “Of late, Indian IT firms and start-ups are focusing strongly on developing software products, both for Indian as well as international markets. Having a global industry association hold a summit in Bangalore will go a long way in enhancing these efforts.”
IIMB is spearheading the drive towards building a high quality Software Product Management pool of talent & research. ISPMA is an open non-profit organization that establishes Software Product Management (SPM) as a discipline in both academia and industry. This is a body of SPM professionals, thought leaders and professors as fellow members.
The global SPM summit brings together experts from the industry and academia as well as practitioners to exchange insights and best practices. With India’s growing prominence as the start-up nation and the powerhouse for many of the best software products in the world, ISPMA has decided to hold the SPM Summit in India as well. The Indian SPM Summit 2019 is the inaugural edition organized by ISPMA in India.

The event will feature several industry veterans as speakers, such as Professor Michael Cusumano, Distinguished Professor at MIT and D. N. Prahlad, Infosys Board member. Distinguished Alumnus of IIMB, Haragopal Mangipudi, who also happens to be a member of the Board for ISPMA, is the conference Chair.
Another highlight of the India SPM summit is the SPM Excellence Awards that are instituted to celebrate excellence in software management practices, and showcase the best practices and role models. The jury, chaired by Hans-Bernd Kittlaus, Chairman of ISPMA, consisted of eminent professors and professionals from North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Evaluation of the nominations have been completed, and the five finalists would be making their final presentations during the event where the winners would be declared.
Panel sessions by CEOs, product & talent Heads, student show cases, deep dive workshops will be some other highlights of this two day event.
Considering that almost every business is a software business in this age of digital competition, this is a great opportunity for software product leaders, practitioners as well as IT professionals and management students to learn and network in a global platform. This summit happening in the IIMB campus is an advantage for the students who will benefit immensely from the sessions as well as the opportunity to network.
