Singapore University institutes ‘Syed Ahmad Khan AMU Memorial Prize’

Aligarh: Meritorious students making significant contributions to South Asian Studies and Culture will be awarded the ‘Syed Ahmad Khan AMU Memorial Prize’ at the National University of Singapore (NUS). The award has been instituted with a non-endowed gift of 15, 000 Singapore Dollars to the NUS by the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Alumni Association of Singapore.

A/P Kang Hway Chuan (Director, University Scholars Programme, NUS) said: “In recognition of the Gift, the NUS propose to name the award as ‘Syed Ahmad Khan AMU Memorial Prize’. The Gift will be used to establish two cash prizes valued 250 Singapore dollars each, with the intention that the prizes will be awarded in each academic year to two graduating students in University Scholars Programme with a preference for students who have demonstrated academic excellence and reflected a strong commitment or made a significant contribution to South Asian Studies and Culture”.
