AMU clarifies use of monogram

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University today clarified that the Executive Council (EC) through its resolution, dated, October 4, 2005 and resolution no. 15, dated January 17, 2015 resolved that the monogram with Quran Ayah on the notices of meetings, invitation cards, pamphlets, examination and test answer books, calendars, file covers, project and lab reports, examination and admission forms and letter heads will not be used to avoid disrespect of the religious verse due to the ephemeral nature of these documents. However, a monogram with five stars in place of the Ayah in the circle may be used in such cases.

“The monogram with the Quranic verse will continue to be etched on AMU degrees, diplomas, certificates, final year mark sheets, character certificates of the students issued by Dean Students’ Welfare, Sherwani (Traditional knee-length coat), badges, AMU flag, buildings, glow and sign boards, books, monographs, diary, PG Dissertations and Ph.D thesis”, said AMU Registrar, Mr Abdul Hamid (IPS).

The notice issued by the Registrar calls for strict adherence by all concerned.
