International Day of Radiology at JNMC
Aligarh : Resident doctors of the Department of Radio diagnosis, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Dr Divyashree Koppal, Dr Isra Khan and Dr Aniket Verma won the quiz competition on ‘Interventional Radiology’ held at the Department of Radio diagnosis to observe the International Day of Radiology.
Dr Aiman Ibrahim, Dr Harikrishnan M, Dr Mohammad Ashraf and Dr Mayank Srivastav stood second in the contest.
Delivering a special lecture to observe the occasion, renowned radiologist, Dr Mudassir Rashid (Director, Gold Coast Hospital) said: “Interventional radiologists use x-rays, CT, MRI or other imaging guidance to navigate small instruments, like catheters and needles, through blood vessels and organs to treat a variety of diseases”.
He added that the interventional radiology procedures reduce the length of hospital stays, minimise potential complications from open surgery and save lives.
Presiding over the lecture, Prof Shagufta Wahab (Chairperson, Department of Radio diagnosis) said that numerous life-saving, non-vascular procedures are being done at the Department of Radio diagnosis.
Prof Shagufta with Prof Mohd Khalid and Prof Ibne Ahmad distributed prizes to quiz winners.
Resident doctors were also provided with hands-on-training in ‘CT Guided Spinal Interventions’ conducted by Dr Mehtab Ahmad and Dr S M Danish Qaseem.
