Director Horticulture Jammu conducts extensive tour of Doda; Launches High Density lime plantation drive
DODA: Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, JKAS on Sunday conducted an extensive tour of Doda district.
During the tour, he launched the plantation drive in district Doda by planting a sapling of High Density lime plant in Pyrote and Assar in the presence of Chief Horticulture Officer Doda R.K. Kotwal, District Horticulture Officer Shakeel Ahmed, MCC B.B Pangotra, HDOs, & PRI members.
The plantation drive has been started in all the districts of Jammu division covering an area of 60 hectares.
The Director Horticulture Jammu also inaugurated a Mega Awareness Camp at Ramghar, Assar in the presence of BDC Chairperson Assar, Sulakshna Devi, BDC Chairperson Kashtighar, Abdul Ghani Bhat, CHO Doda, Sarpanches, Panches and other officers & officials of the department wherein more than 200 farmers including women participated.
Addressing the farmers, the Director explained benefits of various centrally sponsored schemes of the department and urged them to come forward, associate with the horticulture department and avail the incentives on different components viz: Bore Well, water harvesting tanks, Drip irrigation, Custom Hiring Centres, vermicompost units, protected cultivation, Strawberry plantation, tools & implements etc. for upliftment of their socio- economic status. He said that the district is having a great potential for horticulture crops which must be tapped and appealed the PRI and field functionaries to work in tandem for doubling the farmers income with special focus on area expansion, establishment of solar driers and processing units.
Meanwhile, the Director Agriculture Jammu K K Sharma launched the plantation drive in district Jammu by planting a sapling of High Density citrus plant in Kadyal Brahmana, R S Pura, in the presence of CHO Jammu, S. Sarbjeet Singh, DLSMSs Sanjeev Kumar & Sandeep Gupta and HDO Dheeraj Sharma. He impressed upon farmers to adopt integrated farming in their fields and enhance their income.
CHO Jammu S. Sarabjeet Singh and CHO Doda R K Kotwal asked the farmers to come forward to avail the benefits of various schemes and also addressed the technical issues of the farmers related to the production of fruit crops.
