‘Childline se Dosti week’; Div Com Jammu flags off Rally on Child rights & child Issues

JAMMU : As per the annual practice, CHILDLINE Jammu today celebrated the ‘Childline Se Dosti’ week here with the children of SOS children village Gole Gujral.

The event began with lighting of traditional lamp by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Raghav Langer and followed by flagging off the rally on Child rights and child issues.

The purpose behind conducting the event was to aware the children about their rights and issues so that they can protect themselves from exploitation and speak out for themselves.

The children also knotted the friendship bands to the dignitaries who were present on the occasion. Dr Langer evinced keen interest in the functioning of SOS children village and interacted with the children to know their wellbeing and their problems, if any.

Dr Langer also inquired about the working of CHILDLINE services in the Jammu division and appreciated the work done by CHILDLINE Jammu. He urged the public at large to call on 1098 number when they saw any child in difficult circumstances.

Village Director Jagir Das said that SOS Children Village of India is an independent, non-governmental organisation that advocates the rights of orphan & abandoned children. “We offer loving, family-like care for children, who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care. We are committed to creating and maintaining a caring and protective environment for every child we reach through our programmes’ he said.

The event was conducted under the guidance of Nodal Director/HoD Department of Law, University of Jammu Dr Satinder Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Satish Sharma; Ajay Salaan Director /DSWO Childline Jammu, and coordinated by Pinky Jain and Rohit Khajuria.

The Childline team members Sakshi Bali, Rajpaul Sharma, Mridula Sharma, Sunil Kumar, Khushi Ram were also present.
