Internationally acclaimed Classical Dances’ Proponent Parwati Dutta taught ‘Odissi & Kathak’ to LPU Students
Jalandhar: Internationally acclaimed Classical dances’ proponent, Parwati Dutta reached Lovely Professional University, today, where she taught ‘Odissi & Kathak’ dance steps to LPU students and staff members. After organizing a workshop on the great Indian dance forms at LPU, dance aficionado Ms Dutta also performed on the classical forms, at densely packed Shanti Devi Mittal Auditorium of the university, for each and every among audience to imbibe true and worshipping spirit of great Indian culture, rhymes and rhythms. She enthralled all at LPU with her performance and articulation of classical forms through her self-explanatory glances, swings, swerves, expressions, foot-works and more. LPU students & staff members, too, made the most of this opportunity to learn great dance forms from her in extremely easy manner. On this occasion, LPU Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal honoured the protagonist of great Indian dances.
Founder Director and Guru at Mahagami Gurukul in Aurangabad, Parwati Dutta is a name to reckon with in the national and international arena of Odissi and Kathak. She has dedicated over two decades of her life in spreading Indian dance forms in 40+ countries. Parwati Dutta is a versatile Odissi and Kathak danseuse, Guru and researcher; and is recognized by the dance-community as a thinker-dancer; and, a dedicated Arts administrator. An Alumni of Kathak Kendra, she is a senior disciple of Pt. Birju Maharaj, Padmavibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra and Padmashri Madhavi Mudgal. Including Unesco Cultural Award to her credit, she has been conferred with many other prestigious national and international awards and recognitions.
