Quarantine changes for fully-vaccinated international students

New Delhi: Fully vaccinated international students entering Victoria under the International Student Arrivals Plan will not need to quarantine as long as they can be verified by the Australian Government as being vaccinated with a vaccine registered or recognised by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

They will also be required to test negative to COVID-19 within 72 hours before their departure and undertake testing within 24 hours of arrival in Victoria.

Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said the University has been looking forward to further announcements about quarantine for international students for some time and commended the Victorian Government for keeping the spotlight on this critical issue.

“Today is a day that Universities across Victoria have been waiting for, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this news with our international student community who have been absent from our campuses for way too long.

“Work on reactivating our campuses for the summer and next semester are already underway, and it’s safe to say that the welcome back is going to be like no other.”

With quarantine no longer required, Monash University looks forward to welcoming the first group of international students planned to arrive in December.

Confirmation of the students participating in the initial arrivals phase is expected soon, with the first cohort arriving by the end of 2021.
