Uttar Pradesh’s Politicians Join Koo App; Strengthen Digital Presence Ahead of Assembly Elections

Lucknow: Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections scheduled to be held early next year, MLAs and MPs from the state are consolidating their digital presence by joining the Koo App – the largest Hindi micro-blogging platform in the world. 250 MLAs and 41 MPs from UP have opened an account on the Koo App and started reaching out to people to share views and developments. The elected representatives from India’s largest Hindi-speaking state will leverage the platform’s features to interact with people from their regions in their native language.

The Made-in-India platform empowers people to express themselves and engage in online conversations with each other in their mother tongue. Hindi is a dominant language on the Koo App – with over 50 per cent of the platform’s 1.50 Crore users interacting with each other in Hindi.

The social media platform is currently well represented by prominent personalities from Uttar Pradesh, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath; Deputy Chief Minister & MLA from Phulpur Assembly, Keshav Prasad Maurya; MLA from Lucknow & Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Dinesh Sharma; Cabinet Minister Surya Pratap Shahi; MLA from Allahabad South & Cabinet Minister, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ and BJP MLA from Chitrakoot, Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay. In addition, Prof. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, MP Prayagraj: Smriti Z Irani, Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development & MP Amethi Lok Sabha Constituency; Anupriya Patel, Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Govt of India, and MP Mirzapur; Subrat Pathak, MP Kannauj, Satyadev Pachauri, MP, Kanpur and Shyam Singh Yadav MP (Lok Sabha), Jaunpur have active handles on the Koo App.

Besides, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi; General Secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party from Deoria, Satish Chandra Mishra; Chandra Shekhar Azad, President of Azad Samaj Party from Varanasi; Sanjay Singh, Rajya Sabha MP from Aam Aadmi Party; Shivpal Yadav, founder & President of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party from Etawa and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party’s Ghazipur MLA Om Prakash Rajbhar are active on the platform. Political parties like AIMIM Uttar Pradesh and Peace Party also have official accounts on the platform, besides leaders from Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Azad Samaj Part, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party and Progressive Samajwadi Party.

 

Government departments from Uttar Pradesh on the platform include the Chief Minister’s Office, Department of IT&E, UP Tourism, Cultural Department, Press Information Bureau, etc. Their presence on the Koo App has come together to create an informative and interesting conversation with the people of the state.

With Hindi being a key language on the Koo App, #KooHindiFest2021 was initiated in September to herald Hindi Diwas and to celebrate the richness and popularity of Hindi in India. The week-long festival, launched by renowned singer Palash Sen, comprised a series of cultural activities, workshops and exciting contests; all of which created a rich social media ecosystem for Hindi and received a tremendous response from over six lakh users across 10 Indian states.
