University of Tübingen: New permanent dental collection in Tübingen

The Museum of the University of Tübingen MUT presents the dental teaching collection in a new guise. In the Tübingen University Clinic for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine, around 400 objects will be on display in its own museum with the name ” Dental | Things “: The permanent exhibition shows exhibits from the history of the development of the subject and the history of the Tübingen Dental Clinic as well as curiosities Dentistry and also art objects with a professional focus.

The establishment of this rare and curious exhibition was made possible by the close cooperation of the University Clinic for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine with the Museum of the University of Tübingen MUT: In two years of work, the objects were inventoried and made accessible in student practical seminars, photographically by Valentin Marquardt documented, the collection rooms extensively renovated and expanded and presented in a contemporary staging by the exhibition scenographer Stephan Potengowski.

At the same time as the exhibition, a 300-page publication from the MUT series (vol. 23) will be published. It was also created in practical seminars as part of the master’s profile “Museum & Collections” at the MUT with students and specialists:
