JK Lakshmipat University celebrates 2ndManagement Guru Day in honour of Dr.Pritam Singh; felicitates Dr. Shrikant M. Datar
New Delhi: In order to pay tribute to the legendary management guru and Padma Shri awardee DrPritam Singh on his birth anniversary, JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU), Jaipur held its second edition of the Management Guru Day. The virtual event remembered the immense contribution ofDr Singh as a board member right from the inception of the university and also felicitated theGeorge F. Baker Professor of Administration and 11 th Dean of the Faculty, Harvard Business SchoolDr. Shrikant M. Datar for his exemplary achievements in the field of management.
Dr Singh, who died in June, 2020 due to cardiac arrest, served as independent director in several private companies and was a former director of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Lucknowand a former professor and dean of IIM-Bangalore. Besides serving the board of JKLU, he was also associated with Hero MotoCorp Ltd, Godrej Properties Ltd and Parsvnath Developers Ltd.
DrDatar was felicitated with atrophy and citation in a live webinar that witnessed over 300 plus attendees across various platforms. The programme started with screening of JKLU film followed by a showcasing the glimpses of Dr. Pritam Singh’s association with the University.Sri Harsh Pati Singhania, member of JKLU- Board of Management of JKLU and Vice Chairman &MD of JK Paper Ltd. welcomed the Chief Guest. Dr. DheerajSanghi, Vice Chancellor, JKLU delivered the welcome address and briefed the audience about the Management Guru DayCelebrations. Mr. Asheesh Gupta, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, read out the citation of the chief guest.
In his address on “Design Thinking & Innovation ”, DrDatar spoke about the importance of innovation, developing innovation skills and nurturing innovative mindset. He highlighted the importance of establishing a connection between the operational world and innovation world, which is a combination of routine and curiosity, much-needed for innovation to take place. He shared a 4 step process of Design thinking and innovation which included human centered approach, problem framing, ways to ideate and innovation mindset. The process was well illustrated with the example of JaipurLimb and Gandhi’s salt march.
Master of the Ceremony was Dr. Upasana Singh, Assistant Professor while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ashwini Sharma, Assistant Director, Institute of Management.
