Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, signs MoU with South Asian Liver Institute, Hyderabad, and launches the first cochlear implant program in Vijayawada
Vijayawada : On the occasion of its 15th anniversary, Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, signed an MoU with India’s only private Liver Institute to amplify the expertise offered through better service. The MoU was signed with Dr. Tom Cherian from the South Asian Liver Institute, Hyderabad, with Dr. Sudhakar Kantipudi, Hospital Director – Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, in the presence of Mr. Dilip Jose, MD & CEO, Manipal Hospitals, Mr. Karthik Rajagopal, COO, Manipal Hospitals, and Shri VVS Laxman, Former Indian Cricketer and Head of NCA.
Started in 2016, Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, has successfully completed a total of 40 liver transplants. Out of these, 35 were cadaver transplants and 5 were live transplants out of which three were pediatric cases. Now, with Dr. Tom Cherian coming on board with his team, they will together do higher number of liver transplants in order to efficiently serve people.
Speaking about this, Dr. Tom Cherian said, “I am glad to sign up with the second largest multi speciality healthcare chain in India in serving people on a larger scale. Coming on board with Manipal Hospitals gave us the opportunity to take a step forward and synergize our medical expertise in liver care and deliver the best of treatments to the society. Together, we endeavour to set a mark in the industry towards treating liver diseases and liver cancer.”
Additionally, Manipal Hospitals, Vijayawada, has launched the first cochlear implant program in Vijayawada keeping in mind the need to reach out to people in and around the city and assist them with the best of care and facilities available. Speaking about the launch, Dr. Venkata Krishna Sandeep, Consultant – ENT and Head & Neck surgery said, “Cochlear implants are done under on children the age of 5. So far, we have operated on two children below the age of 2 under the mentorship of Dr. Yarlagadda Subbarayudu – Cochlear implant surgeon. It is our primary goal to provide better quality of life for children as impairments should not come in their way to do their best in the future.”

Also, the winners of the 10k/5k marathon held on 5th December were felicitated by Sri VVS Laxman, Former Indian Cricketer and Head of NCA, with cash prizes at a grand event.
