Joint Director Agriculture Farms reviews Floriculture Development Scheme, Department of Agriculture Kashmir
Floriculture is a fast emerging venture: Dr Waseem
SRINAGAR : The Joint Director Agriculture Kashmir Farms, Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah today held a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress on the implementation of Floriculture Development Scheme.
While addressing the meeting Dr. Waseem highlighted the importance of Departmental farms amid the changing Agriculture scenario. He said Floriculture is a fast emerging venture, which has vast potential in the special agro-climatic conditions like Kashmir. He asked the officers to make optimum use of the land available with these farms and maintain this land on the modern scientific lines.
Dr. Waseem impressed upon the concerned officers that these farms should be promoted on real time global parameters so that on one hand they could generate revenue for the department and on the other hand become model farms for young entrepreneurs.
He asked the concerned officers to work in close coordination on a missionary mode and endeavor to achieve the already set targets in the stipulated time frame.
The meeting was attended by Floriculturist Abdul Rehman Samoon, Chief Technical Officer Sheikh Farhan & all farm managers of Floriculture Development Scheme.
Later on Joint Director Farms visited Seed Multiplication Farm Gangbugh where he interacted with the technical experts and concerned officers of the farm regarding the status of Rabi crops. He was briefed by the Seed Production Officer, Kashmir Gh. Mohi ud din Kumar about the various interventions adopted at the farm.
