World AIDS Day observed at UHTC
Aligarh : Interns of the Urban Health Training Centre (UHTC), Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Dr Rifa Tufail, Dr Tasneem, Dr Ibtesam, Dr Rajat, Dr Nibras, Dr Nazish and Dr Raghuvendra called for unity in the fight against the AIDS disease and the support for people living with the HIV virus.
They were delivering the ‘World AIDS Day’ talk at UHTC.
Speaking on the theme, ‘End Inequalities, End aids, End pandemics’ the interns highlighted the urgent need to end the inequalities that drive Aids around the world.
They provided an insight about the mode of HIV spread and causes, symptoms, tests and treatments for HIV infection.
“Economic, social, cultural and legal inequalities must be ended as a matter of urgency if we are to end AIDS. It is clear that without doing so this crisis cannot be overcome”, said Dr Suboohi Afzal, Chief Medical Officer, UHTC.
The talk concluded with a special awareness message by Medical Social Worker, Hasan Nawaz Khan.
