Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile: School of Administration is the only one in Chile to receive the highest EQUIS accreditation
The UC School of Administration received for the second consecutive time the maximum accreditation granted by the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) , thus being the only business school in Chile that has this recognition.
The accreditation process meant that peer evaluators from important institutions would virtually visit the school between October 19-22, 2021. Three deans and a representative from the corporate world were in charge of evaluating it in ten standards: governance, programs, students, teachers, research, executive education, resources and administration, internationalization, ethics, responsibility and sustainability and connection with practice .
After the resolution, the school achieved its second consecutive accreditation for the maximum number of years, being the only business school in the country that has this recognition of the maximum accreditation, which only four universities in Latin America have: EGADE Business School in Mexico, The Universidad de los Andes in Colombia, the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil and the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile .
“That leaders in the assurance of the quality of education such as EQUIS give us the maximum accreditation does nothing more than reinforce what we have been working on day by day in research, connection with the environment, internationalization and quality of our programs. This it is also an insurance for our students, graduates and future students about the quality of what we are delivering to them, ” said José Tessada, director of the School of Administration.
Likewise, the director stressed that as a team they have been working on continuous improvement for many years, evaluating themselves, and seeking to become a school that is a real contribution to society, where students can generate an impact in the future . This recognition only reinforces that idea that teachers, authorities, professionals and officials have worked on.
” Something that our evaluators highlighted was the quality of the research, the executive education of our school and the excellence in recruiting undergraduate students and I think that says a lot about us and our reputation,” said José Tessada.
EQUIS is a leading system in quality assurance, continuous improvement and accreditation of Business Schools at an international level. It was created and is administered by the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and its fundamental objective is to raise standards in business administration training worldwide.
“Something that our evaluators highlighted was the quality of the research, the executive education of our school and the excellence in recruiting undergraduate students and I think that says a lot about us and our reputation” – José Tessada, Director of the School UC Administration
Currently there are 202 business schools accredited by EQUIS, 11 in Latin America and of these only four have obtained five years, and UC is the only one in Chile , where the importance of accreditation is because there is global recognition, an international benchmarking is created, we have a strategic guide and we are part of a learning community
This European institution also accredits recognized business schools for five years, such as Melbourne Business School, The University of Melbourne; Cambridge Judge Business School, University of Cambridge; HEC Paris; SDA Bocconi School of Management, Bocconi University; INSEAD; ESADE Business School; IE Business School; Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
